Almost 6!
posted by Mom on January 25, 2012 in the following categories: Life with Sammy

drbrown.jpg How have I not posted since last May? Sammy had his annual cardiology checkup in November and got the thumbs up from Dr. Brown. Echo looked great ("Excellent", to be exact), pulses were great, liver was great, sats were 96-97! Tricuspid regurg was about the same - mild to moderate. Sammy grew 4" and gained 5lbs since last year's visit. (He's soooo close to 40lbs!) Will see Sammy again next year - and he'll only have an echo every other year now. (Eeek!) That's Sammy and his PC, Dr. Brown, at his last visit.

I can't believe Sammy will be 6 next month! He's loving kindergarten (though I think he's really loving spending all day with some of his favorite friends from the neighborhood). He loves reading, ninjas (mostly doing ninja moves around the living room), Legos, Star Wars and puppies. (And pretty much anything he can turn into a battle - so a puppy ninja Storm Trooper battle it is!) He cracks us up with appropriately-timed random one-liners from his favorite show, Johnny Test. He's been playing piano since August and is really getting good at it! He loves the snow and being outside. Still practicing on training wheels, but hoping to be off them this summer! T-ball starts in just a few months, but in the meantime he's fascinated with Shaun White and snowboarding. Hoping to get him some lessons in before the season's over. Grateful to have made it this far into the school year with just a few sniffles and one bad earache.

If you've recently received an HLHS diagnosis
PLEASE contact us if you want to talk. Having others who have been through this there for us (even when we just needed to freak out!) has been so, so instrumental in coming to terms with what's we're up against.

If you're here because you wanted to show love and support
Thank you! We've been amazed at the influx of wishes and prayers and positive energy sent our way, and we can't begin to express how much that strength and support means to us. Please take a moment and sign the guestbook.

If you're looking for info on HLHS
Please check out the resources. We were overwhelmed with what's availabe on the Internet; hopefully this will narrow it down a little for you. Be sure to read up on all the babies who are doing well - there IS hope!
